Quick questions

What does this test measure?

Total testosterone only. If you also want free testosterone, Medichecks offers an upgrade that adds SHBG and albumin to calculate it. Its Male Hormone Check covers ten markers if you want a fuller picture.

What time of day should I take the sample?

Between 6am and 10am, as testosterone levels are highest in the morning. Medichecks suggests before 9am if you are setting a baseline. Avoid biotin supplements for two days beforehand, checking with your doctor if it is prescribed.

How do I collect the sample?

A finger prick kit is included, which you post back in a prepaid envelope. If you use testosterone gels, Medichecks strongly recommends a vein sample instead: a clinic draw adds £35 and a home nurse visit adds £59.

How much does it cost?

It was £19 when we checked, for over 18s only, with doctor’s comments included. Medichecks estimates results within 2 working days of the lab receiving your sample.
