About Longer Living Guide
A guide, not gospel.
Longer Living Guide is written by the Longer Living Guide editorial team. We read the research on everyday products, grade how strong it is, and point you to options that hold up. We are not a shop: brands and retailers sell and ship.
How we rank sources
01
Regulators and standards bodies
UK and EU regulators, the Food Standards Agency, ECHA, the US EPA and FDA, and standards bodies such as NSF/ANSI, ISO and BSI. Their published limits and scopes come first.
02
Peer-reviewed research
Studies in recognised journals, preferably systematic reviews and large cohorts. We note sample size and whether a finding is about the material or the specific product.
03
Independent testers
Accredited laboratories, consumer testing organisations and certification schemes with public criteria.
04
Brand data
Ingredient lists, specifications and brand-commissioned lab reports. Useful, but used last and always labelled as brand data.
Language we use carefully
We describe what a certification tests and what regulators say. We avoid absolute claims such as "safe", "toxic", "chemical-free" or "detox", and we do not say a product prevents or cures anything. Nothing here is medical advice.
Money and independence
We may earn a commission from some links. It never decides what we list, which grade a product gets or where it appears in a guide. Brands cannot pay to be featured.
Reviews and corrections
Every guide and product shows a last reviewed date. We recheck prices, certifications and standards on a rolling basis, and we update a page when a brand changes a formula or a standard changes.
