Why we picked it
The Finnish cohort studies linked to heart and longevity benefits studied hot, dry traditional saunas, not blankets. This compact two-person barrel uses 40mm thermally modified Nordic spruce (heat-treated with steam rather than chemical preservatives) and costs £5,371 with a 6kW Huum electric heater, or £3,995 as a kit without a heater.
Best for
People who want the traditional Finnish-style sauna that the big long-term studies actually looked at
Not for
Flats, renters, or anyone without garden space and a qualified electrician
